The Jets have a new weapon on offense -- 286-pound defensive lineman-turned-fullback Lawrence Thomas. He caught a 15-yard pass out of the backfield, nearly breaking it for a touchdown. Little-known fact: Thomas was a fullback early in his career with Michigan State, where he blocked for Le'Veon Bell. "Oh, that was amazing. It was pretty exciting to have the ball in my hands," said Thomas, who set up a TD.

Jets injury report: The X-ray room at MetLife Stadium was a popular place. RB Matt Forte (toe), LB Josh Martin (ankle) and WR Charone Peake (ankle) underwent post-game X-rays. Coach Todd Bowles didn't provide updates.

Jets coach Todd Bowles said the team discussed President Trump's comments last night at their team meeting: "Yes, we had a long talk. We had a big talk. It bothered some guys and we had a long talk about it. Everybody aired their differences and we talked about it and we came out as a team today, unified."

Jets acting owner Christopher Johnson told reporters he was "incredibly honored" the players agreed to let him join them, arms locked, on the sideline for the national anthem. He said he'd love to do it in the future, but they'd discuss it first. Asked about President Trump's controversial remarks, Johnson said, "I thought the commissioner actually came up with a pretty good line there. I was disappointed, but I'm going to leave it to others to talk about. I was just glad that we were one team today, and we did really well, because we were one team."

The Jets decided last night at an emotional team meeting to lock arms during the national anthem. Acting owner Christopher Johnson said he asked every player, individually, before the game if he could join them on the sideline. And he did.

So much for the Jets going 0-16. They dominated the Dolphins, 20-6, for their first win, proving they still have fight and perhaps more talent than we thought. It also proved the AFC East is a joke and the Patriots might clinch by Halloween.

Independent of other results today, if the Jets hang on beat the Dolphins their chance of landing the first overall pick in next year's draft will drop from 38% (before kickoff) to 24%.

Words I never thought I write this season: Utter domination by the Jets.

How 'bout them Jets? They succeeded on a trick play, throwing to Lawrence Thomas -- a defensive lineman playing fullback -- on a third-and-1. He caught it and rumbled for 15, setting up a touchdown. Maybe the Giants should trade for Thomas; they could use the spark.
