NFL evaluators make picks on Week 12's best games

Common sense dictates the Jaguars and their terrific defense will get the best of a Cardinals team that's struggling at quarterback. But one of our experts was tempted to lean toward Arizona simply because of the guy in charge.

Larry Fitzgerald was given the news during his media gaggle Friday that Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey injured his hand and won't be playing Sunday. Fitz then had this to say: “I mean, Jalen Ramsey with one hand is better with 95 percent of the cornerbacks in the league.”

Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald said Friday he has no interest in trying to block former teammate and current Jaguars defensive end Calais Campbell on Sunday: “I hope there's no scenario where I have to see him. Just at the coin toss and that's about it, and after the game for a picture. Other than that, I don't want him anywhere near me. That's a matchup I don't want to see.”

Earlier this week, Calais Campbell said he wanted Larry Fitzgerald's jersey after Sunday's game. On Friday, Fitzgerald said no problem. "Oh for Calais, anything. Anything. I didn't' know he wanted it. Yeah, if he wants it, he's more than welcome to have it. Hopefully he'll trade for a no tackle-for-loss, no sack game, and I'll give him a jersey for the rest of the season."

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians on playing Jaguars, who are ranked first in the NFL in points allowed per game: "If you're putting points up against these guys, you're playing pretty well.”

NFL Week 12 predictions: Jaguars at Cardinals

The Cardinals have struggled against solid defenses, and the Jaguars' D is just that. Jacksonville will rattle former 2011 first-round draft pick Blaine Gabbert, and that will result in turnovers and big defensive plays.

FPI: Jaguars have edge over Cardinals

Jacksonville's defensive efficiency of 87.5 is the best rate by any team through 10 games since at least 2006. The defense will face Blaine Gabbert on Sunday, whose 30.5 Total QBR is the worst of any quarterback who has taken 1,500 snaps since 2011.

Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson shed a little light on why Arizona is 4-6 and struggling for the second straight season: “For some odd reason it just seems like practice is not carrying over to the game. I don't know what it is, but it just seems like the last-minute preparation is not carrying over to Sunday. We're just having too many mental errors in the games to where we are beating ourselves.”

Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson described the Jaguars' running game, which is ranked first in yards per game with 160.6 and fourth in yards per carry with 4.6: “Those guys are playing some old, 1985 football. I mean running it right down your throat.” For the record, Peterson was born in 1990.

Seven Cardinals did not practice Wednesday. WR John Brown is dealing with turf toe. LB Karlos Dansby and WR Larry Fitzgerald both had veteran days off. DT Josh Mauro has an ankle injury, RB Eli Penny has a knee injury, DT Corey Peters is still dealing with his ankle injury and DT Olsen Pierre has a shoulder injury. LB Chandler Jones (hip/knee), WR J.J. Nelson (chest), C A.Q. Shipley (shoulder) and QB Drew Stanton (knee) were all limited.

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians likes to say rookies aren't usually ready to play until Thanksgiving. Why? Simple math. It's because by Thanksgiving, the rookies have gone through a full college slate. This year, the rookies have played 10 regular season games and four - or five - preseason games.

Why did the Cardinals release Andre Ellington? "Poor play," coach Bruce Arians said. Arians didn't see the benefit of keeping Ellington on the roster if he was going to be inactive.

The Cardinals officially promote wide receiver Carlton Agudosi to the active roster from the practice squad.

Time for Cardinals to focus on draft

FPI projects the 4-6 Cardinals to have less than a 1 percent chance of making the playoffs. But landing a top-10 pick is considerably more likely to happen for Arizona

Power Rankings: Cardinals fly to No. 21

Another loss and the Cardinals probably can be written off, but they do play four of their next five at home, so there is a chance to pick up some wins.
