The Lakers are sending president of basketball operations Earvin "Magic" Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka to the May 16 NBA draft lottery in New York City. Johnson will represent the Lakers on stage and Pelinka will represent them in the back room where the drawing will take place. The Lakers have a top-three protected pick in the upcoming draft and, after finishing with the league's third-worst record at 26-56, the team has about a 47 percent chance of keeping that pick, according to ESPN's Basketball Power Index. If the Lakers lose that pick, it will go to the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Philadelphia 76ers could target a free-agent stretch-4 in July, and some followers of the team would like to see Ersan Ilyasova come back.
Philadelphia increased its chances of landing the top pick by losing its final eight games. If both Lonzo Ball and Markelle Fultz are off the board, Malik Monk makes a lot of sense in the backcourt.
76ers forward Robert Covington underwent a scope of his right knee to repair a slight tear of his meniscus, the team announced Tuesday.
Center Jahlil Okafor does not appear to be a good fit with the Philadelphia 76ers and will likely be shopped again this offseason.
The choice of ESPN's BPI for which player will be named NBA rookie of the year differs from who should win the award according to our expert panel. But both choices are from Philly.
Philadelphia 76ers forward Robert Covington will have surgery to take care of the slight meniscus tear in his right knee.
Take a look back on the 76ers' season and look ahead to the team's offseason. Are they finally about to turn the corner?
Philadelphia's Joel Embiid said his knee injury that required surgery wasn't as severe as was initially diagnosed and that he also believes he deserves to be the NBA Rookie of the Year.
Carmelo Anthony scored 17 points after deciding to play in what could be his final game with the Knicks, and New York beat the Philadelphia 76ers 114-113 on Wednesday night.
76ers guard Gerald Henderson was fined $25,000 by the NBA for throwing an elbow at Indiana's Paul George in Monday's game, and George was fined for publicly criticizing the officiating afterward.

Coupled with the Phoenix Suns' loss to Sacramento, the Lakers' win over the New Orleans Pelicans -- their fifth straight overall win -- means the Suns will finish with the NBA's second-worst record while the Lakers will finish with the NBA's third-worst. For the Lakers, that means they'll have a 47.8 percent chance of keeping their top-three protected draft pick at the May 16 NBA draft lottery. If the pick falls below the third pick, it goes to the Philadelphia 76ers.
76ers guard Ben Simmons, who missed all of this season with a right foot injury, has been cleared for full-contact drills, sources told ESPN.
Ben Simmons, the No. 1 pick in the 2016 NBA draft, missed his first season in the league after he fractured his right foot in late September.
Paul George scored 17 of his 27 points in the first quarter and the Indiana Pacers inched closer to clinching an NBA playoff berth with a 120-111 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday.
