It's Edgar Martinez weekend in Seattle and the Mariners retired his No. 11 tonight in a pregame ceremony. The next ceremony should be in Cooperstown. He received 58 percent of the vote last year for the Hall of Fame, but has just two years left on the ballot. The selection of one of the best hitters ever -- .312/.418/.515 in his career -- is overdue.

Angels rally from 4-run deficit to top Mariners 6-5

Mike Trout scored from second base on Jean Segura's error in the top of the ninth inning, and the Los Angeles Angels rallied from a four-run deficit for a 6-5 win over the Seattle Mariners on Friday night.

Another injury blow for the Mariners as James Paxton will be sidelined three weeks, joining Felix Hernandez, Hisashi Iwakuma and Drew Smyly on the DL. That list helps explain why the Mariners are 22nd in the majors with a 4.81 rotation ERA. Given how good Paxton has been -- 12-3, 2.78 ERA -- losing five or six starts from him could likely mean the difference between making the playoffs and falling just short.
