The San Diego Padres placed 2B Yangervis Solarte (strained left oblique) and RHP Miguel Diaz (strained right forearm) on the 10-day disabled list Friday. The moves are retroactive to June 21 and June 22, respectively. C Hector Sanchez (foot, quad) has been reinstated from the DL, and 2B Carlos Asuaje has been recalled from Triple-A El Paso.

Weaver, Cahill to make rehab starts
RHP Jered Weaver (hip) and RHP Trevor Cahill (shoulder) are scheduled to make rehab starts Thursday night for Triple-A El Paso and high-A Lake Elsinore, respectively. The Padres also transferred LHP Christian Friedrich's rehab assignment (elbow/side) to El Paso, and outrighted RHP Zach Lee there as well.

Some thought the Padres might throw at Anthony Rizzo after his Monday slide knocked Austin Hedges from the game and MLB official Joe Torre told Rizzo the slide violated the home plate collision rules. Well, in the bottom of the first, the Padres pitched to Rizzo -- you can't really throw at the leadoff guy -- and he homered to give the Cubs a 1-0 lead.
Anthony Rizzo said he spoke with Joe Torre, MLB's chief baseball officer, who told him he would not be disciplined despite being in violation of Rule 7.13, which the sport introduced in 2014 to protect catchers from such collisions.
