Georgia coach Kirby Smart has announced that OL signee D'Antne Demery has been released from his National Letter of Intent. The release follows Demery's arrest Saturday night on misdemeanor charges that he choked and shoved his girlfriend, who is also the mother of his 1-month-old child.

UGA cuts recruit for domestic violence charges

Georgia has released recruit D'Antne Demery from his national letter of intent following misdemeanor charges that he choked and shoved his girlfriend.

Georgia incoming freshman D'Antne Demery was being held in the Athens-Clarke County Jail on Sunday morning on misdemeanor charges that he choked and shoved his girlfriend, who is also the mother of his one-month old child. Demery, an offensive lineman from Brunswick, Georgia, was charged with misdemeanor simple battery and criminal trespass. He was arrested by Athens-Clarke County police around 9:30 p.m. Saturday and transferred to jail, where he was being held on $1,500 bond.

UGA's Smart: Ask me before reporting injuries

Georgia's Kirby Smart said reporting injuries can be "a detriment" to his team, and his new policy prohibits the media from doing so until he is asked and has addressed the injuries publicly.
