Bill Snyder says he never in his career entertained the idea of becoming an athletic director. On Monday, K-State introduced Gene Parker, a former Iowa deputy, as its new AD. Snyder and Parker talked last week, but they did not discuss the topic of a succession plan for the 77-year-old Snyder, the coach said. "I don't spend any time on it right now," Snyder said of his eventual retirement. He underwent treatment for throat cancer over the past several months.

Bill Snyder, meeting with the media for the last time before the Kansas State spring game on Saturday, is never one to paint a rosy picture that doesn't exist. "The offense is struggling right now," Snyder said when asked of his team's progress through three weeks of spring practice. The Wildcats continue to use Alex Delton as their top QB, with returning starter Jesse Ertz missing this spring because of injury.

Kansas State has hired Jon Fabris to coach defensive ends and promoted Blake Seiler to assistant defensive coordinator. Seiler, who previously coached defensive ends, will now coach the linebackers, replacing Mike Cox, who resigned this offseason. Fabris made previous coaching stops at Indiana, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Washington State, Iowa State, Notre Dame, South Carolina, the Cleveland Browns and he coached the K-State defensive ends in 1997 and ‘98.
