For the umpteenth time this weekend, Baker Mayfield was just asked if he wanted his Heisman statue in Norman to be of him spiking the OU flag in the turf (like at Ohio State). "That wasn't the highlight of my career," he said. I asked him what was? "That hadn't happened yet."

Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley was quick to credit former Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops for believing in Baker Mayfield first. Riley said it was Mayfield's second Sooners game (at Tennessee, Week 2 in 2015) when he realized how successful this team could be under him. It was about the way he competed in the 31-24 win with 100,000-plus screaming against him.

Baker Mayfield says he didn't write anything down for his speech. He got what he wanted to say together in his head as he got dressed. Felt that kind of prep would allow him to better show his emotion.
