The first edition of the 2018 ESPN 300 rankings are out. While these rankings will change between now and national signing day, there are already players and trends standing out.

Five bold statements about the 2018 class

The next Deshaun Watson is not committed to Clemson
The national champions have done well recruiting QBs since landing Watson. Starting with Watson in 2014, Clemson has signed an ESPN 300 QB in every class and has another one in 2018 with top QB Trevor Lawrence. All that being said, the next Watson might not be playing in Death Valley. Penn State commit and top-ranked dual-threat Justin Fields will become the next Watson of this class. Like Watson, he is always a passer first, runner second and possesses coveted poise in the pocket and composure under duress.
