Patriots WR Chris Hogan will not play against the Steelers Sunday, but Field Yates says Kenny Britt might be a good replacement in a daily fantasy scenario. (1:37)

PITTSBURGH -- New England Patriots wide receiver Chris Hogan is not expected to play in Sunday's highly anticipated AFC showdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers as he continues his recovery from a shoulder injury, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

In turn, it is likely that receiver Kenny Britt -- who was officially signed on Wednesday -- will make his Patriots debut. Britt has been part of the Patriots' game plan and, barring something unexpected from an injury perspective in pregame, was expected to dress for the game.

As for Hogan, the decision comes after he looked rusty in his return to action in Monday's loss to the Miami Dolphins; he had missed the previous four games because of the shoulder injury. Hogan played 55 of 61 snaps in the Dolphins game, finishing with one catch for 1 yard on five targets. He failed to tap his toes on one pass along the corner of the end zone that could have been a touchdown, and he also had some noticeable struggles as a run-blocker.

Without Hogan, the Patriots have Brandin Cooks, Danny Amendola, Phillip Dorsett, Britt and special-teams captain Matthew Slater as receiver options.
